Last month in Part 1 of Networking like a Pro we focused on how to best prepare for networking opportunities and how to follow-up afterward.
In Part 2 we’ll focus on a few quick ways you can insure you are positioned to be effective in your networking efforts.
The #1 thing about networking is to make a connection and making yourself memorable. Standing out and being memorable becomes evident by how you think about networking.
When you think about networking as relationship building not purely as a business connection, you are much more likely to be percieved as as someone who is sincere, warm and generous.
After you have had a chance to get past introductions and mutually share, always ask what you can do to help them. If something quick and helpful such as a business resource, information or general connection- offer it freely and generously.
With so many people wanting something, you’ll stand out when you show a genuine interest in helping a new friend succeed in their interests. If you are networking at an event, be one of the most memorable and likeable people by being someone who is genuinely interested in what others are pursuing and offering to help them.
To your networking success!!
